Celebrate Summer Saison!

Saisons were traditionally brewed in the autumn or winter for consumption during the late summer harvest. The refreshing ale was then stored until the late summer harvest. Because of the lack of potable water, the ale would give the farm hands the hydration they needed without the threat of illness.

The brew had to be strong to prevent spoilage during storage, but at the same time could not be so strong as to incapacitate the workers. These beers were strongly hopped, as hops act as a preservative. Saisons benefit from higher fermentation temperatures which makes this the perfect beer for your summertime brewing.

Not so long ago it was close to being an endangered style, but over recent years there's been a massive revival; especially in the US. So join the revolution and brew your own Summer Saison with Wyeast Laboratories French Saison!
