Distillation Supplies & Alcohol Flavorings -- Is Distilling Legal? First, let's define what we mean. After all, this is a legal issue, so it's important that we understand the question. Alcohol is produced by the process of fermentation, which IS legal in the U.S. Distillation doesn't produce alcohol, it concentrates it; and that is where the issue gets complicated. Distillation of water, essential essences, herbs etc is entirely legal (to our knowledge) everywhere. Distillation of alcohol is often a different matter, depending on where you are, and what you DO with the alcohol. Location: 1) In your home… In New Zealand, Sweden, and many other countries, we are told it IS legal to distill alcohol for your own consumption. We are not lawyers, and do not know the laws of each country well enough to make a judgment call for you on this; we advise you to determine your own legal position before doing it. In the U.S., distilling . . .

Fermenters & Carboys -- The selection of fermenters is entirely a personal choice. Some like to make larger batches, some smaller. Usually a home brewer or winemaker ends up owning several carboys, fermenters etc in order to properly age his brew. Plastic has the advantage of being rugged and light weight. It CAN become scratched, however, and doesn't seem to accumulate as much sediment as glass does. Glass is great for watching the action (it's FUN!) and the surface cleans easily. If you have the budget available, stainless steel is impossible to beat! Best of all (fermentation) worlds. Pick a size that suites YOU.

Brewing Accessories -- All the gizmos, gadgets for home brewing and wine making. Airlocks, stoppers, siphon hose, etc

Cleaners, Sanitizers -- The most important steps in homebrew are cleaning AND sanitizing everything that comes in contact with your beer and wine. Otherwise, bacteria (bugs) can get in and contaminate your efforts. We recommend Super Grunge as a cleaner, and Iodophor as a sanitizer. Both are inexpensive, and have been shown to be effective.

Mead Making -- Mead is an ancient drink made from fermented honey. Many believe that mead was the first alcoholic beverage made by man. It has an interesting history; this is where the term "honeymoon" came from, for instance. A traditional mead is made and served much like a wine. We like it that way, but as you might expect, there are variations to it, like adding fruit (called a melomel) or herbs (called a methaglin) or malt (called a braggot). Meads typically are slow to ferment, and improve greatly with aging.

Cider Making -- Everyone loves a good hard cider. Make your own at home. Easy, and fun to do. Apples, pears peaches and even berries make a nice drink! Very easy, very tasty.

Bottle Labeling Supplies -- It's fun to apply your own custom labels to your homemade beer, wine, mead etc. We have pre-formated labels as well as label making software to give your bottles the professional touch!

Soda Pops -- It's easy and inexpensive to make your own soda pops at home. Root beer is a BIG favorite! Kids love it, and have fun doing it.
